Austria, February 1934 :
A milestone in the resistance against fascism

The resistance of the workers of Austria against a fascist putsch attempt, in February 1934, constitutes both a departing point of an evolution leading to the direct submission of the Austrian people to the national-socialist dictatorship, and at the same time the outcome of a process profoundly affected by the politics followed by the Social-democratic Labor Party of Austria, the SDAPÖ, the influence of which on the popular masses was then largely preponderant.
